A pair of round, locket fourteen carat yellow gold cufflinks set with two diamonds and two rubies on each panel. This exceptionally rare pair of cufflinks are superbly made, and have a hidden secret in the form of a pair of photograph locket spaces in the inside of both front panels.
The cufflinks themselves are very refined and simple in their design with a hinged 'whale tail' style back, which, when folded inwards, makes them very easy to push through the cuff. The domed fronts are set with approximately a 0.2 carat diamond and ruby, which are open set into the cufflinks which allows a little more light to pass through them. Each one of these has a small nail space to open them to reveal a space for a miniature photograph to be placed inside.
The lockets have been beautifully hand made and opening and closing perfectly. When worn would be almost impossible to detect that there is in fact the hidden space for the sentimental photographs. These highly unusual and charming cufflinks are stamped '585' on the center bars for fourteen carat yellow gold. They are European made, circa 1920's.
